STUDENT ONE- LARR

Good evening everyone,

A learning organization is comprised of the principal or the school leader. However, school leadership may include other persons, such as supervisors, coordinators and mentors who contribute toward the aims of the school (Kareem, 2016). It’s not just the leader who is responsible for creating a learning organization, but the leader is the one who sets the tone according to their leadership style. The people who will take the world into the next era will be those who can move from being knowledge transformational bodies to those that will have the ability to possess, renew, employ and sustain knowledge and development successfully (Kareem, 2016). The school leader works with other stakeholders to move the organization from being places that dole out information into something more evolved and interactive. This progression calls for effective leadership to the development of educational institutions into learning organizations (Kareem, 2016). Working with your stakeholders and providing transparency can facilitate that process. Building shared vision is an extension of personal visions. It is the key to attain the commitment of all associates of the organization, in order to make them shine and study by themselves (Kareem, 2016).

Educational organizations such as school districts are considered learning organizations because there is a continuous pattern of transactions between the organization and its customer (Kareem, 2016). Various leaders are responsible for creating and maintaining learning within school districts. For example, school boards set policies and oversee the management of a school district, superintendents monitor operations and organizational changes, and principals supervise campuses. There are several additional individuals who play a role in maintaining learning in school districts; however, school board trustees, superintendents and principals are often held accountable for outcomes – good or bad. Therefore, these leaders should set goals and expectations for the organization. Engaging staff is also critical. Enforcing and supporting distributive leadership will assist when leading an educational institution toward becoming a learning organization. According to Kareem (2016), transformational leaders should focus on organizational transformation by influencing staff to change from the norm. This can be accomplished by allocating authority and sharing responsibilities.

A learning organization is where learning occurs continuously and transforms itself (Malik & Garg, 2020 p. 1075). Organizational structures such as school districts and institutions are learning organizations because these are settings where learning is continuous and transforms to become more adaptable for the learning style or need. A learning organization has several components such as having a culture that supports employees with feedback, team collaboration, shared visions for the organization, and strategic leadership (p. 1075). Strategic leadership is important in creating a learning organization because research supports a positive relation between leadership style and implementing organizational learning (Bilan et al., 2020 p. 99). Leaders should be front and center in creating a learning organization as a way to improve sustainability for the organization. A learning organization involves total employee engagement (Rupčić, 2020 p. 19). Leaders must find ways to involve employees when moving towards a learning organization through open communication and shared leadership about the benefits of a converting learning organization.
